Asian Games successes for IHB and IGBS
The 17th Asian Games Incheon 2014 will come to a close this week, and can be hailed as another successful project for International Games Broadcast Services (IGBS), a 50/50 joint venture between HBS and IMG Media, and the host broadcaster Incheon Asian Games Host Broadcasting Management (IHB).
IGBS has been involved closely in the Asian Games since acting as host broadcaster of the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006 under the name Doha Asian Games Broadcast Services (DAGBS). The broadcast of that event changed the face of the Games and IGBS returned four years later, in Guangzhou, China, to handle the coverage of aquatics, athletics, and cricket and to take responsibility for the provision of English commentary and the production of a twice-daily highlights package.
For this edition, hosted in Korea Republic, IGBS has been hard at work since before the Games began on 19 September. “It is a delight for IGBS to be involved again with the Asian Games for a third time,” commented Mike Wilmot, IGBS Project Director. “Again we supplied the Rights Holding Broadcasters (RHBs) with daily highlights programmes along with production of the integrated athletics feed, and ENG coverage of the sailing and cycling events in support of the host broadcaster IHB.”
The event consists of 36 sports and around 13,000 athletes/officials and 7,000 media representatives have been involved over the 16 days of competition. Congratulations are offered to IHB on a tremendous host broadcast project and another inspiring success story for the Asian Games and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA).
